East Riding Leisure launches summer programme of activities and free swimming

A host of fun activities to keep the kids entertained during the school summer holidays are being held at East Riding Leisure sites, including free swimming sessions.

Parents and carers can keep youngsters busy and active at East Riding Leisure centres, no matter what the weather brings.

Each of the council’s eight leisure centre will be running summer holiday activity programmes full of ideas and activities for children of all ages to enjoy including bouncy castle and games, aqua fun, sports hall activities and much more.

Visit eryc.link/school-holidays for details and start planning for the summer holidays now.

East Riding Leisure will also be offering free swimming sessions for all children aged 16 and under throughout the summer holidays.

From Saturday, 18 July to Sunday, 6 September, each participating centre will run two, hour-long free sessions per week for children aged between three and 16 years-old, who live in the East Riding.

The centres offering free swimming are:

  • Beverley
  • Bridlington
  • Driffield
  • Francis Scaife (Pocklington)
  • Haltemprice
  • Hornsea
  • South Holderness
  • Withernsea

Councillor Nick Coultish, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Tourism, said: “East Riding Leisure have put together a fantastic programme of activities for children and young people this summer, with something to suit all interests and ages.

“These activities provide a great opportunity for families to spend quality time together, stay active and make the most of the holiday period.

“We’re also very pleased to be bringing back free swimming sessions. We know the summer holidays can place extra pressure on household budgets, so we hope as many families as possible take advantage of this popular offer.”

There is no need to book the free sessions, as they will be on a first come, first served basis.

Under-eights must be accompanied by an adult, and standard adult swimming fees will apply. Children under the age of three can swim for free at any time.
