Get ready for festive fun in the sun as Bridmas Day returns to Bridlington

Bridlington will once again be transformed into a festive seaside spectacular as Bridmas Day returns on Wednesday, 5 August, bringing Christmas cheer, family entertainment and festive activities to the coast.

Following the success of previous years, this year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever, with a packed programme of festive entertainment taking place across South Beach, Bridlington Promenade, Bridlington Spa, Sewerby Hall and Gardens, East Riding Leisure Bridlington and locations across the town.

Organised by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Bridmas celebrates all things Christmas in the middle of summer while showcasing Bridlington as a year-round destination for visitors and residents alike.

Visitors can enjoy a host of free family-friendly activities throughout the day, including Santa’s Grotto, festive face painting, Christmas crafts, live music performances, Christmas-themed games, stilt walkers, bubble shows and much more.

Entertainment on South Beach will include appearances from Santa and his elves, a Christmas Tree and Snow Angel stilt walker, Christmas crafts and interactive activities hosted by Active Coast. Visitors can also enjoy performances from Coastal Voices throughout the day.

The promenade will host live organ performances, Driffield Brass Band, Learn 2 Ride cycling sessions, the Adult Learning Bus and opportunities to meet a local ice sculptor and Melt’em John Gritter.

Elsewhere, families can enjoy a free screening of The Grinch at Bridlington Spa which can be booked here: The Grinch – Bridmas Picturehouse Screening festive activities in East Riding Libraries, and a range of Christmas-themed entertainment at Sewerby Hall and Gardens, including face painting and Mr Bubbles’ festive bubble show.

Visitors are also encouraged to take part in the popular Christmas Cracker Trail, which will run across multiple Bridlington locations. Those who successfully complete the trail will be entered into a prize draw featuring a range of festive prizes, including tickets to Christmas at Sewerby Hall and Gardens, the Santa Express, Bridlington Spa’s pantomime Cinderella, The Edge: Aerial Adventure attraction and concerts at Bridlington Spa.

A number of special one-day discounts will also be available, including 10% off tickets for Cinderella at Bridlington Spa, Santa Express journeys, Christmas at Sewerby Hall and Gardens and The Edge: Aerial Adventure.

Local businesses are once again being encouraged to join in the fun by decorating their premises, dressing in festive attire and helping spread Christmas cheer throughout the town.

Councillor Nick Coultish, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Tourism at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “Bridmas Day has become one of the highlights of Bridlington’s events calendar and we’re looking forward to welcoming residents and visitors for another fantastic celebration.

It’s a wonderful opportunity for people to experience everything Bridlington has to offer while enjoying a unique summer event with a festive twist.
