East Riding of Yorkshire Council is launching a new concept this Easter – Active Coast.
East Yorkshire's stunning coastline offers beauty, and a destination to be active as well. Whether wanting to hit the beach for some volleyball, completing a parkrun, following the Mile Marker trails, or enjoying one of the many exciting events ... there's something for everyone, and it's all available through 'Active Coast'.
Launching at Easter 2017, Active Coast aims to provide opportunities for residents and visitors to get active, be healthy and enjoy life on the East Yorkshire coast, centred round Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea.
Over the last few years, the 'Active Coast' concept has been growing, with activities including Sewerby parkrun, Go Spike Beach Volleyball and the 'All Ride' adapted bike scheme. 'Active Coast' now aims to provide a 'one stop shop' to bring everything together for residents and visitors alike.
Councillor Richard Burton, portfolio holder for civic wellbeing and culture, said: "Active Coast is a very exciting concept, which has so much to offer. Whether pure enjoyment and making the most of the coast, or a way to develop a healthier lifestyle, Active Coast has it all! "I hope that Active Coast will inspire other organisations, partners and local clubs to take part and help promote our coast as a fantastic place to live, visit and be active."
The 'Active Coast' concept pioneers three main strands:
